In the vicinity of Salles De Belves tourism destinations such as as Aqualand Water Park - Bassin D'Arcachon (12 km), Parc-en-Ciel at Villereal (13 km), Château de Beynac (19 km), or Dordogne River Boat trips (20 km) are all worth visiting. In conclusion we had the most relaxing, comfortable stay and thoroughly enjoyed visiting the towns and wish we could have stayed longer. The option of using the phone for local calls as well as landlines in Australia was a bonus not that we used it much. Bruce was very prompt and helpful with any queries we had. The 2 local bakeries were our favourite visits each morning! We had a glitch with the wifi one day but we figured it was due to the rain. The pretty villages along the Lot river were not far either. There are many walking trails and many charming towns to visit within driving distance. We had many a lovely lunch and coffees out there especially on sunny mornings. The same goes with the balcony ( off the dining area) view. The master bedroom had the most glorious view of the town and the surrounding countryside and very spacious. Although one could really stock up pretty well at the market and use the local stores as well. Especially when one get there late and miss the Sunday morning supermarket opening hours! Because of course one rushed to the Sunday markets first!! In St Cyprien. The place was very well stocked with the necessary utilities etc including plenty of herbs to cook tasty meals and more. When we got there, there were more books, maps etc to keep us very well informed. We were provided loads of information about the cottage, Belves and the surrounding Bastide towns. It is not “slick” you are in rural France after all! If you seek warmth, comfort, privacy, quiet, heart-stopping beauty and a great location with all fundamental living needs met, this house will easily satisfy.īooked Les Lucarnes from Meryl, who recently sold it to Bruce and Judy. In summary, if you seek five star accommodation and ultra-modern conveniences, this house is not for you. Three months was not enough even to see the A-List. From here, all the Dordogne is accessible with its fabulous chateaux, markets, towns, shops, walks, rivers, wineries and food choices. See the Tourist Office first then explore Belves on foot and enjoy the Saturday market, the enchanting main street shops, the 2-3 pizza places, the 2-3 restaurants and the Troglodytique Cave Tour. In Belves, a place we love with all our hearts, is an indisputable welcome for visitors. We did not use these given the time of year. Parking is in the street outside or along a bit in marked spaces undercover.įrom the front door, steps lead to the rear garden where a terrace, seating, BBQ and washing line are useful. Hot water is served from a tank in the bathroom. All rooms are well and generously heated on demand. The supplies are generous beyond your needs. To say the house is well-stocked is an understatement. There are enough dinner and cutlery services to host banquets, and enough chairs to find a seat too. A second full size fridge is available in the entry hall a few steps away. The kitchen is small, ideal for one cook, but the electric oven/stove (ceramic top), small bar fridge, toaster, kettle, accessories are practical and plentiful. It is here you spend most of your days in cosy warmth. The other room is for dining (seats 6), sitting (seats 2) and open plan kitchen. The lounge-room is huge and contains three couches, one of which is a fold down double bed. They are all served by a small bathroom with shower, basin, loo, washing machine and ample storage and supplies.ĭown the stairs, which are as steep as all old French houses, are two other rooms and a second bathroom with shower, basin, loo and storage. Two other bedrooms (QS and 2 x singles) are also upstairs but we used them only for hanging our surplus. The house comprises, upstairs, a large master bedroom (KS bed) with dressing room, ample storage and hanging spaces, satellite TV and sitting room. ![]() The bird calls provide your background music. ![]() Hours spent looking at this were not enough. Just 200 metres from the steps into town and most restaurants, the balcony and master bedrooms face the divine valley views, with the best medieval buildings ranged along the left. Two seniors from Australia spent three months (Feb-May) delighting in the view, location and warmth of this lovely house.
